Austin-based technology entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp and their two young children were among the nine people killed on Sunday when a private Learjet crashed into a residential neighborhood in Palm Beach County. The tragedy occurred shortly after Robinson celebrated a significant business milestone for RB2B, reaching $10 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR). Federal investigators have confirmed that weather conditions are currently a major focus of the ongoing inquiry into the crash.

Business Milestones and Final Plans

In his final LinkedIn post on the day of the accident, Robinson detailed the financial success of RB2B, noting it had reached $10 million in ARR with one full-time employee. He also mentioned that MoltSets was approaching $1 million in revenue. Two months prior, he described reaching this threshold as "the promised land." Robinson served as CEO and co-founder of Retention.com, an Austin company focused on website visitor identification and marketing.

Robinson had planned to attend a live debate scheduled for Tuesday with friend Jesse Ouellette regarding whether RB2B and MoltSets should remain separate or be combined. In his post, Robinson expressed skepticism about combining the products, stating he would be "thrilled if RB2B never grew another dollar." The family later released a joint statement remembering Adam and Helen as devoted parents whose warmth touched many lives.

Crash Details and Investigation

The Learjet 60 departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport at approximately 10:37 a.m. on Sunday, carrying two crew members and seven passengers bound for North Eleuthera in the Bahamas. According to reports from emergency crews, the aircraft dropped rapidly before an explosion sent thick smoke and flames into the air over a modular home community near Military Trail.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) stated that there are indications the aircraft began breaking apart before impact. The crew reported light clear ice and moderate turbulence at 35,000 feet prior to requesting permission to climb to 37,000 feet. Less than 30 seconds after this request was approved, the crew issued a mayday call while descending, more context in Pilot Reported Icing Before Deadly Learjet Crash Near Miami Highway.

Community Response

The companies associated with Robinson—Retention.com, RB2B and MoltSets—issued statements remembering him as a "bold, outspoken leader who lived life to the fullest." They noted that he cared deeply about those around him. Emergency crews shut down Military Trail between Cresthaven Boulevard and 10th Avenue North during the response efforts.

The cause of the crash remains undetermined pending further analysis by federal authorities. The incident has drawn attention from local officials and neighbors in Palm Beach County, where the family's loss is being deeply felt across the community and the broader tech industry.
