Sumrall pointed to successful programs like Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan, and Georgia as examples of teams defined by their toughness. To demonstrate his commitment, Sumrall traveled to Decatur, Georgia, on Christmas Day less than a month after being named head coach. He visited star tailback Jadan Baugh, who was considering entering the transfer portal.
