GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida women’s softball program has officially secured a significant addition to its roster with the commitment of Tori Edwards from Louisiana State University (LSU). The former infielder and utility player announced her decision to join the Gators after being identified as one of the premier available talents in the NCAA transfer portal since it opened on June 8.

A Record-Setting Rookie Campaign

Edwards arrives in Gainesville following a historic debut season. As a redshirt freshman, she appeared and started in all 58 games for LSU at first base. Her offensive output was particularly notable; Edwards set a single-season program record with an .802 slugging percentage during her initial year of eligibility.

Her performance earned national recognition early in her career. She was named a finalist for the NFCA Freshman of the Year award and placed on the USA Softball Player of the Year Top 25 list, establishing herself as one of the most impactful rookies in recent college softball history.

Continued Production at LSU

While her statistics saw a slight adjustment during her redshirt-sophomore season in 2026, Edwards maintained high-level production. She continued to demonstrate strong plate discipline and offensive capability by maintaining an on-base percentage above .400.

The move marks the second major transfer acquisition for Florida softball this cycle. The program previously secured Duke catcher Tori Edwards, further indicating a strategic push to bolster key positions within the team’s lineup ahead of the upcoming season.
